RUF CTR-Specification 1981 Porsche 911 Carrera Widebody

This 1981 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe is a RoW example that was sent to RUF of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, in 1991 to become one of maybe 25 customer-supplied Porsche chassis converted to CTR specification. Sold in Oct 2026 on Bring a trailer for $3,050,000.

The CTR, or Group C Turbo RUF, was introduced in 1987 and soon earned acclaim after topping a field of contemporary supercars with a speed of 211 mph during a session at Volkswagen’s test track in Ehra-Lessien, Germany. In 1987, The World's Fastest Cars Couldn't Catch A 211-mph Twin-Turbo Ruf.

The RUF three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of RUF-branded VDO instrumentation including a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 350-km/h speedometer, and gauges monitoring fuel and oil levels, oil temperature, oil pressure, and boost. The six-digit odometer shows 55k kilometers (~34k miles), less than 300 of which are said to have been added since the 2023 refurbishment by RUF. Trimmed to CTR lightweight specification, the cockpit houses a pair of Recaro fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in black leather with Pepita cloth inserts and white stitching, while the rear seats have been deleted.

Lightweight panels include an aluminum hood, roof, and doors as well as CTR-specific fiberglass and Kevlar bumpers that include a front oil cooler opening flanked by brake-cooling inlets as well as wrap-around horizontal rear vents.

The car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3,367cc flat-six that is mated to a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. A manual boost control knob is situated centrally behind the seats. RUF-claimed output of 469 horsepower at 5,950 rpm and 408 lb-ft of torque at 5,100 rpm. An oil cooler is positioned at the front of the car.

Features include an oil cooler, cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes, staggered-width 17” RUF wheels with body-color centers, a fixed rear spoiler, an integrated roll cage, a sunroof, additional RUF touches include shaved drip rails and aero side mirrors.
